Im crying like a baby while listening Elendil’s Oath. His voice is absolutely stunning, and yet it’s really pure and simple. It’s my personal opinion, but Aragorn was a man, yes, but a very humble man. Despite the story of his ancestors, he tried to save everyone, tried to protect everyone, and done everything for them. He never tried to take the ring, while Boromir was the first to be tempted to use it. Even during his coronation, he stayed humble and didn’t try to take the credits for defeating Sauron. He thanked the Hobbits and bowed before them in front of the city. A king bowed before his friends. And I find his voice simple as Aragorn is, it add a little something to the song. I’m sad that it’s not longer .. Thanks to Viggo for singing this ❤️

I cannot help but wonder if Aragorn was recovering this oath from ages past for more reasons than just to recall those days. He knew that he was essentially the last Numenourian, called to rule over a people that has often been seen by other people's as being lesser or weak. His brow would carry the last of the legacy of a people blessed with long life and prosperity by divine beings and cursed to lose all this by the same divine source when that people sought to attain the stars of heaven. It's not enough to say that Elendil shared a bloodline with Aragorn, he shared the weight of a new age with his descendant, an age that would see the end of his home, his people, his life, and his story. All this to be passed on into the legends of a "lesser race" of men. And yet, did either of them falter or drag their feet to carry out this duty? Did they falter in this call to the end of their time? As true sons of Men, and of The One, they upheld their oath and gave those lesser Men, those people who we are descended from according to Tolkien, a shining light to hold to and to remember until the ends of our time upon this earth.

I absolutely love these movies and the music a lot, I grew up with lotr and the hobbit. This is one of my favorite songs from the movies, I honestly think my favorite song is Tauriels' theme from the Hobbit movies. Nevertheless, every song is a masterpiece, including the movies.

Tolkien has a beautiful way with words. The translation is so simple but the structure gives the short phrase so much gravity

Elrond had to tell him to "put aside the ranger and become what you were born to be." and most of all, when Elrond returned the flame of the west to him, he said "I bring hope to men." Aragorn replied, "...I keep none for myself." as humble as it gets. Tolkien made sure that in the end, no one would deserve it more than Aragorn
